About the Trust

Each programme sets its own criteria, and they are published on that programme's page before its application window opens. Most require a connection to Olokoro or a neighbouring community in Umuahia South.

The portal will tell you which programmes you are eligible for once your profile is complete, so you do not have to work it out from the criteria yourself.

Windows differ by programme and are shown on each programme page with its opening and closing dates in West Africa Time. A programme with no window open shows when the next one is expected.

Every programme lists its document requirements on its own page, so you can gather them before you start rather than part-way through the form. Commonly requested items are:

• Proof of identity — a national identity number slip, voter's card or passport
• Evidence of academic results, where the programme is educational
• A letter from a community leader confirming your connection to the area
• Bank details, where an award is paid directly

Yes. You may hold one application per application window per programme. Applying to one programme does not affect an application to another.

The timetable is published with each window and depends on how many applications it receives. You can see exactly where your application has reached at any time in the portal, and you are notified when it moves.

Applications are assessed against the criteria published for that window, as they stood on the day you submitted. A later change to the criteria cannot be applied to an application already made.

Most programmes require two independent reviewers before a decision. A trustee or member of staff with any connection to an applicant must declare it and takes no part in that decision.

You are told, and you are told why in terms of the published criteria. Being unsuccessful in one window does not count against you in the next.

Only the staff and reviewers assigned to it. Reviewers see the applications allocated to them and nothing else. Every access is recorded.

Not without your written consent, and never as a condition of an award. Consent records exactly what it covers — your name, your photograph, your story, a video — and you can choose to appear by first name or initials only.

You can withdraw consent at any time, and the material comes down.

Application data is kept for twenty-four months after a final decision, then deleted. Beneficiary records are kept for as long as the Trust's reporting obligations require. The privacy notice sets this out in full.

Contact the Trust and the Treasurer will set out the current options. Contributions go to the endowment unless you specify a programme, in which case they are held and reported separately.
