Clinical staff from Eastern Health Initiative run blood pressure, blood sugar and basic eye checks. Anyone whose results need following up is referred the same day, and the Trust covers the cost of the first appointment.

The outreach visits a different community each quarter. Ahiaeke was chosen because it is furthest from the general hospital.
